"The plot of an Alafair Burke thriller doesn't just rip from the headlines. She's one step ahead of them. 212 scares you and keeps you turning the pages into the wee hours."

New York Public Library panel on January 14

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

On Tuesday, January 14, I'll have the pleasure of serving on a panel with Linda Fairstein (oodles of respect for her!) and Wendy Corsi Staub. The panel is called "Scaring Women: Creating Nail-Biting Tension in Women's Suspense," and will be moderated by Jane Cleland. Count on me to challenge the notion that there should even be a sub-genre of book labeled Women's Suspense. I

hope to see the New York crowd in person. The panel starts at 6:30 pm on the 6th floor of the Mid-Manhattan library at 40th Street and 5th Avenue. Read more about the panel here.

I'd love to make the drive for that one, Alafair, but alas, I can't. :( Please say 'hi' to Linda and Jane for me.

And by the way, I don't recognize a sub-genre of women's suspense. You all write crime fiction as far as I'm concerned; that's what the tags on my blog say!

Have fun!

Now..see that's why I want to live in New York instead of South Dakota...can you all come out to Little House on the Prairie and do a panel?

You two crack me up. The panel was one of the best I've been on recently. Jane Cleland was a terrific moderator - very organized with good follow up. I hadn't met Wendy before but was very impressed. She writes multiple books a year in different genres (suspense, chick lit, young adult...). And I have such tremendous admiration for Linda. Samantha Kincaid might not have existed but for her.
